About Kate

Kate Gawi is an interior designer for some of Melbourne’s  most affluent homes and the creative director and co-owner of Architeria Architects

Kate grew up in Europe, where her appreciation for classic architecture, art and literature was part of her lifestyle. Kate’s studies in art history and interior design combined with her love for reading and writing prompted her to write her first book, ”Tea with the Dutchess: How to do anything with style”.

When Kate is not designing or decorating, Kate can be found in her tea house, with a cup of Earl Grey and a historical novel. Her favourite things to do are holidaying in Southern France or the beautiful Lake Como, browsing through antique stores and bookstores and spending time with her family.

Since entertaining, decorating  and creating  elegant and timeless homes are dear to her heart, and as a self proclaimed lifestyle connoisseur,  she wanted to share her love  for creating beautiful environments and how to do it in style. In her work, both as an interior designer and a writer, her aim is to show how an organised life in a carefully curated home can elevate your everyday.  She believes that everyone will benefit from adhering to etiquette ,and how enhancing ones manners and polishing ones qualities such as grace, kindness respect and consideration for others will never be out of style. Her writing often carries deeper messages embedded in these teachings with the aim to inspire her readers in cultivating these qualities to enhance their success across all areas of life.

In her lifestyle blog, you can follow her character "The Dutchess"  offering her best advise in how to live a life in style, etiquette, personal transformation and good old manners. Kate is also writing for Architeria Architects, covering topics related to architecture and interior design, as well as writing articles for lifestyle magazines.
